T-DMB or DAB
Front-End
Personal media players (PMPs), portable game
consoles, and telematics terminals are a few
of leading products in rapidly emerging digital
convergence market. Archimedes is able to reinforce
the convergence device with T-DMB feature in
reduced development time.
The figure below shows a typical configuration
of a multi-media device with the T-DMB front-end.
On receiving a T-DMB channel, Archimedes provides
the host CPU with the MPEG2 TP stream for the
video service and visual radio, PCM data or
MUSICAM stream for the audio service, or packet/data
group level stream for the data service.
For the data service on the packet mode sub
channel, Archimedes can decode the packet address
and verify the CRC.

Stand-alone
T-DMB or DAB Receiver
Using Archimedes with a few components, such as
RF IC, flash memory, key matrix, LCD, and an audio
DAC, stand-alone DAB/MP3 players can be developed.
Archimedes can play MP3 as well as MUSICAM. Other
audio formats such as OGG and WMA will be supported
in the near future.
USB type T-DMB receivers can also be developed using
Archimedes. T-DMB can be played on a notebook computer
or PDA by transferring the MPEG2 transport stream
through the USB 1.1 port of Archimedes. A software
decoder, however, needs to be installed. |
